Automapper 'fun'

The mud in question is Elysium RPG, elysium-rpg.com:7777

I'm having nightmares getting the mapper to work consistently. At times it seems to be find and will make 20 rooms in a row. Then I can set the map to follow mode and it'll follow me one or two rooms, then just ignore the next movement, or pick up later on and if I move north 3 times it'll ignore the first two then move the last, so I'm 2 rooms behind... it's influriating.

Sample mud output is as follows
Quote:
1000 1000 >Cranky old man walks north.
look
Four Way Intersection
This is a neat intersection between two roads, one leading north and south
along the inside of the city walls, and one west to the city gates, and east
to the palace of Thul'Mar.
Obvious exits: north south east west
A room lamp which is not lit, a statue to Kerenn, a sign has been placed here,
a market stall, a legion of the city guard, a small drinking glass, a streetlamp
The lord of this land is Ortkin.
This land is linked to Thul'mar.
north
North Avenue
This is the road known as North Avenue. It runs straight along the the west
side of Thul'Mar, the huge wall of the city towering over it. The buildings
nearby are packed closely, and most are made of the same dark stone as the
city walls.
Obvious exits: north south east
A cranky old man, a streetlamp
The lord of this land is Ortkin.
This land is linked to Thul'mar.
north
North Avenue
This is North Avenue, running along under the wall that lines the west side
of Thul'Mar. On the eastern side of the paved road, tall dark stone buildings
loom over you.
Obvious exits: north south
A merchant dealer is here, looking for something, Master Chakei Feizakei,
Master Dorakann Feizakei, Rulleknas Nanteet, a streetlamp,
a merchant dealer is here, looking for something
The lord of this land is Ortkin.
This land is linked to Thul'mar.
1000 1000 >north
North Avenue
You are on the corner of North Avenue, leading straight southwards, and the
Street of the Warlords, which stretches eastwards. Dark mountains brood to
the north, just outside the city boundaries.
Obvious exits: north south east
A dishevelled student leans against a streetlamp, a streetlamp
The lord of this land is Ortkin.
This land is linked to Thul'mar.
1000 1000 >east
Street of the Warlords
This is the famed Street of the Warlords in Thul'Mar. The tree lined road
leads east and west through the northern district of the city. All of the
houses here are large and dominating, and most have been granted to war
heroes and their families by the Emperor at some point in the past.
Obvious exits: east west
A specter child, a streetlamp
The lord of this land is Ortkin.
This land is linked to Thul'mar.
1000 1000 >east
Street of the Warlords
You are on the Street of the Warlords, under the shade of a gnarled old tree
whose branches stretch over the road, forming a canopy. The houses here are
relatively small, but spread out, with large garden areas, unusual for houses
in the centre of the city.
Obvious exits: north east west
A streetlamp
The lord of this land is Ortkin.
This land is linked to Thul'mar.
1000 1000 >east
Warlord Square
You are standing in a small square, near to the centre of the Street of the
Warlords. The trees that line the road form a pair of semi-circles around the
square, and the road leads through an archway in the centre, which is topped
by an obsidian carved statue.
Obvious exits: north south east west
A streetlamp
The lord of this land is Ortkin.
This land is linked to Thul'mar.

The bit above was of an already mapped area. I started at the 4way, went north 3 times then east 3 times. The mapper followed me north once then just ignored everything after that.

I have the following triggers to tell zmud when I've moved successfully.
Code:
#REGEX {(?:You wheeze heavily, and fall to the ground|You trip and fall in your rush)\.} {#STOP;#ALARM tripped {+5} {#STEP}} "SlowWalk"
#REGEX {It is dark\.} {#OK} "SlowWalk"
#REGEX {There is a door in your way and it is shut!} {#NODIR} "SlowWalk"
#REGEX {You can't go that way\.} {#NODIR} "SlowWalk"
#REGEX {\s+Obvious exits:\s+(?:.*)$} {#TAG EXIT;#OK} "SlowWalk"

I've tried mapping this on and off for years, never getting further than a few dozen rooms before it annoys me too much and I give up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Guinn

Most mapper issues that I run across is in zMud not properly getting the prompt. Dont assume (even if the regex in the mapper config is correct) that its always going to work. I dont know why but I had the same problems until I handled that myself:

#TRIGGER {*your pmt here*} {#TAG prmopt}

Perhaps the same is happening to you? Cant hurt to try it...

Thanks, that seems a little better, but it still loses itself far too often

Think I might've cracked it after all.
Needed to tell the triggers to fire on prompt rather than just newline... why is it always the simple things that catch me out?...
