zMUD Lags in my MUD

Hello,
I'm new to zMUD so bear with me. My zMUD (7.05 version) was working great until a couple weeks ago when I started experiencing a lot of lag when playing my MUD. The lag is especially bad when I'm in the cities moving around -- going through stairs, ropes and other entrances. I thought it might be my internet connection but I don't get this lag when using the MUD's standard wizard. I just updated to the 7.13b version but still have this problem! argh!
Is this a symptom of a corrupt settings file? Can anyone give me a few pointers or direct me to the section in the FAQ that would help remedy this?
