MXP/MSP |
Alright, if anyone could please give me insight on either of these questions it would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know if anyone on this forum is a mud programmer or not, I have tried other forums and no one has replied to my questions so I figured I would try here as well.
Anyway, what I am asking is if their are any coders in the house, or even anyone who has used these 2 functions before could please give me some insight on how it is used. I have the functions running on my mud but I have never used these before...at least not as a programmer, only as a player so I have no idea of the inner workings of these functions. I understand what I must do to make them work properly but I am not sure as to where I must place the functions to make them do what I want. What I mean by this is, I would like my directions to display with MXP so when you click on them they will perform the command and move your player, I understand how to make them do this, but I do not understand where I should place the function itself to make it work. I get reprocessor errors when I try to add the function into a specific piece of code or what not. I am also wondering the same for MSP, do I need to place the functions for the sound downloading and playing in a specific file or piece of code, or can I just place them anywhere like in my main header file(merc.h). Anyway, if anyone has suggestions on this please let me know, if you have no clue what I am talking about, please just disregard this post, thank you. |

There are quite a few coders here. Implementors of MXP and MSP should probably join the Developer's forum.
You'll have to be a bit more specific with your questions. You indicated that you "have the functions running on my mud" but don't know where to put them. If you know how to send the markup, then questions like which function is responsible for room descriptions is probably better directed at the support forum for your codebase (but it might be worth asking in the Dev forum to see if anyone else there uses it).
If you know how to send text in room descriptions, but don't understand the MXP markup itself, then you can start off with open elements in MXP and simply embed them into the room name or description itself (start with color to test).
To begin with, please tell us exactly what you have working and what you don't understand- the MXP document and example at the end of it have been pretty clear to most people so far. Otherwise we're shooting in the dark trying to answer you.
