ZMud limits?

I currently have approximately 6,500 entries in my ZMud. 2500+ aliases, 2500+ triggers, 700 variables, and 600 macros (the macros are in classes, toggleable with aliases). I also probably have 500 classes.

My ZMud has begun to run progressively slower, and "leak" to the point where I had to add more memory, because I was needing to reboot every day.

Now when I try to load the edit window, it takes 10-20 seconds, with my ZMud frozen the entire time. If I hit any key, or even click the mouse, during this time, ZMud crashed. Likewise if I try to paste copied entries (aliases/triggers), or delete a class within the edit window, or any of several other actions...

My question is this:
Is there a known limit to how much Zmud can actively do? If so, what's that limit? If not, how do I stop ZMud from doing what it's been doing?

Also, I recent bought a new computer (P4 3.2, 1 gig of ram, etc.. certainly enough to handle Zmud, so that's not the problem). It runs fatser on this comp, but still lags some, and the freeze thing on the edit window is still an issue...

Thanks in advance!

The limit depends on how much RAM you have. The more you have, the more the limit stretches. If you got 2 gigs of ram, Im sure zMUD wouldnt run so slow with whats listed above. The way you make it out to be, running fine at 1gig, but zMUD is a resource hog. Try closing out programs you dont need running in the backlground also.

Actually zmud is not a resource hog, With my full set of scripts Complete world map, and a few Databases open zmud averages around 20 megs of memory WAY less then most applications the size of zmud.

Zmud stores ALL your triggers alias etc into memory the more scripts you have the more memory you need (this is the same as the majority of all other telnet clients because RAM is faster then disk)

So here are some hints tips and tricks to speed up zmud

Use Inherited and Char specific files to reduce the amount of duplicate and one class/char only triggers In the zmud Knowlege base I wrote an article about using Inherited files.

Disable and enable triggers on an as needed basis.

DO NOT under any circumstance use #WAIT inside of a trigger, or an alias called by a trigger.

#WAIT completely pauses pretty much everything

Here is a link to a program that lets you free up your ram, a lot of times WinXP takes up ram and forgets to clear it there arer other ways to help with that and you will have to read the articles for those.

The link and product for that is:
FREERAM

This is what I use and has worked consistantly for me since I had a P2.
I have also had the same problem opening the script editor. I made more room by saving a lot of my stuff into text files and haveing zmud read them out of there as needed.
