Is there an alternative to %nextdir?

I have got a barge system mapped, however each time the barge stops, the exit is always 'out'. Now I put a pause in the entrance/exit room of the barge, with a #STEP triggered when the barge stops at the right destination. The only problem is that since each exit has a command of 'out', the mapper chooses the first 'out' exit in its exits list, and the mapper icon goes to that room, instead of the right one.
So I was wondering if there is a way to get the vnum of the next room instead of the 'exit' direction. I tried using the %walk function, but that returns exits as well.
The only thing i can think of is to pause once off the barge, set the room to the right one on the map, and restart the walk, but this seems kludgy.
Sometimes I wish you could put a pause in the exit links instead of in the room..

One way to do it (havent really tested)

Make a NEW room each time the barge moves and make the exit dir to the next barge movement something like barge_move (and then #ALIAS barge_move {#noop}) and the out exit pointing to the correct room And #PAUSE/#STEP your way through each time it moves using triggers.
