ZMud 'List index' Problems

I've just (in the last half hour) bought ZMud, and installed both it and ZMapper on my desktop.

After registering the license, and running ZMud for the first time, I get the following error on startup:

List index out of bounds (0)

When I click on the 'Ok' box the message pops up again, after dismissing it again, I am dropped into the 'Characters' screen, where instead of an arrow pointer I get an hourglass.

The 'Characters' screen is shaded the same colour as the surrounding borders, and I am not able to select any MUD to connect to.

Then if I click on 'Connect', it'll drop me into the 'Edit Characters' screen, where it says:

You must enter a value into the HostName field.

(even though this is already filled in)

THEN, if I try to connect to a MUD from there, it gets as far as resolving the IP address and then crashes to desktop.

Any advice would be appreciated, as I don't want to have wasted my money.

Edit - I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, to no avail.

What has been suggested in these forums, is to rename the char.mdb file.
