Displaying array variable in a button caption

Hi there,
I'm sure this is an easy one, and thanks in advance to whoever points it out.
The mud I play has a wholist that can be easily captured to a variable. Previously I showed this in the status window, but the window seems a bit erratic at times, so I decided to test putting the who list into the caption of a button.
The variable containing the data is 'whoList'
The button caption is currently set to:
%expandlist(@whoList)
which displays
Jeff Bob Jim Fred
problem is I want each item on a new line, rather than just separated with a space.
