Change button "inset" (like %btncol())

%btncol() can be used to change a button's color on the fly. Is there a comparable way to change its "Inset" flag? (This would be ideal for indicating which of a bunch of options have been selected, for styles of buttons that don't lend themselves to color or image changes.)

It seems the only way to do this is to recreate the button with the proper #BUTTON command.
