old zMUD doesn't work |
I can't afford to buy the new zMUD, so I thought I'd try the old one. Unfortunately, I get an error message when I open it that says zmud.exe couldn't be found or something like that. Anyone have any suggestions?

It will be more helpful if you supplied a little more info
As in what OS you are using? Whats the exact error message? The version of zmud you are trying to install. The free one? |

The free verison of zMud was built as a 16bit app. Current OSes (blame MS for this) specifically XP and 2000 have limited to no support for running such applications. Simply put you may not be able to run even the installation program much less the actual program at this point.
I would certainely suggest you look at the version history page and consider all of the advancements you will be missing by choosing to try and get the unsupported version running. The current version 7.05 is tested and known to operate happily with 98, 2000, ME, and XP; and operates with 95 with only slight grumbles. You should definitely consider using the current and best software. |

I just got the old version of zmud thats free. And it says that it can't run the program after i installed it because of my lack of ms-dos. How can i fix this? or can i?
And i am aware of the updates that i would be missing out on. I don't need all of that to operate effeciently. :P
Thanks in advance |

[RANT]
Older versions of zmud are unsupported period how hard is that to understand, now with that aside
THE FREE VERSION OF ZMUD WILL NOT WORK ON XP OR 2000+ END OF STORY
did you not read the reply above yours?
Did you not read the read the Download info when you downloaded it?
If you like software from a company then purchase it.
If you ask me Zugg should get rid of the free version period.

If you don't need all the fancy updates there are many other clients to choose from. |

You might want to try to email Zuggsoft and ask politely if they are able to help you restore the registration code.
You can also look at the e-license website:

I've lost my Order ID, what can I do?
Fill in and submit a Support Form. Make sure you tell us the name of the software publisher and product you are using, and make sure you give us the name of the purchasing credit card holder. It may also help to give us the last four digits of the credit card, and any of the email addresses which may have been used at the time of purchase. When the purchase has come through the eLicense System, we can look up your Order ID if we have accurate information.
In cases where the purchase was from another party (the publisher's or their agent's web store, for example) or when the purchase was not via a credit card, we may not have all the information in our database. But we can get in touch with the publisher for you.
