IT should be pretty instantaneous try posting the FULL trigger including commands. Also limiting your patten even more would be faster too (You won't really notice a diff here.)

This may not be your problem, but....
Since the '*h, *m *-' part of the trigger looks like a prompt, and is at the very end, you may need to set the trigger options to 'prompt' checked and 'new line' unchecked to get it to fire right away.
But depending on where it falls within your triggers you may want to leave the 'new line' checked, because if another prompt trigger fires and outputs something before this one is checked, with out the 'new line' option this one will not match. But with the 'newline' and 'prompt' checked it could fire twice. You could also have the 'new line' unchecked and make sure this one is tested before any other prompt triggers that may have an output.
You can decide which one you want.
A multi-state trigger would be better in this situation. |

Blah I didn't even think of the prompt option *whap*
As Serentus suggested a Multi state trigger would be better
#TRIGGER "maladies" {You focus your mind intently on curing your mental maladies.} {}
#COND {*h, *m *-} {Commands to do stuff here} {prompt|nocr} |
