Setting Variables within a variable

Can anyone help me with this?
I have a string list of a-z in variable abc. What I want it to do is run an alias that will assign a set of letters to another variable...
First in the new variable would be AA, then BA, then CA......and then go through adding b. IE AB, BB ,CB all the way to the last letter ZZ

NewVariable=""
#LOOP 26 {#LOOP 26 {#ADDITEM NewVariable {%char(%eval(63+%j))%char(%eval(63+%i))}}}

Short and sweet, basic programming problem.
