new features in zmud |
Ok,
I'm regular user of Zmud, which uses it to mud normally in mud that he
has joined because all the friends used to play it too.
Here is my problem:
so far, zmud has been upgraded with things that work and doesnt work (sorry zugg)
But what are current plans? has zmud set into this? there has not been any
talk about new zmud versions, about any new fixes and about any new features....?
Wouldn't it be useful to announce new plans, or beta test ideas in these public
forums to see if those "normal" zmud users that want to buy it these days would
see what it's going into...into some hardly usable software where you need to study
10 years to use or into something that you are able to use efficiently from the first
try, even if it means readin alot of help files..
(which I must admit btw, The helpfiles in Zmud are great!! triggers etc might need
more sophisticated uses for them, along with the regular (as we have seen in these
forums in past years, most of the questions are about the next stage of the coding)
examples).
Zmud forum with the finished codes are good place to learn new ways to fix your old
triggers etc, however most of the codes are specifically produced for one and only mud
to make it work only there, unless you want to rewrite whole code for your own favorite
mud.
So, here is what I'm after with this post, Please atleast give some information when
or what is happening with new zmud so we, new users, dont have to hope our version aint
the last one...
also for those who post scripts into "finished scripts" section try to exaplain some
of your things or why it works only in your mud atleast, so someone else may write
script that can be used by most of the users, no matter what mud you are playin in.

I think Zugg is working on an email client at the moment so it is unlikely he'll release any new version of zMUD in a while. zMUD has a lot of features and I suspect it's starting to become difficult to get ideas of new features to add to it. Hopefully his adventures in writing an email client will make him discover new stuff to add to zMUD .
If you find any errors/issues with zMUD please post them so that they can be verified and reported into the bug list. Some of the issues might have workarounds that can be used until a new version of zMUD is released. If you know of new interesting features that could be added to zMUD please post them too . |

Zugg traditionally outlines his plans for the coming year each January, in a New Years letter. The next one can be expected in about 3 1/2 months. Use the News link above, then click on New Years Letter from Zugg, to see this year's.

We traditionally use the zMUD Beta Forum to discuss new versions of zMUD and to beta test new features before they are added to the public version.
The current 7.05 version is the most stable version of zMUD ever and if you look at the Bug Tracking system for it (in the Support menu above) you will see that there are very few reported bugs and none of them are very serious. So, there is currently no urgent need for any updates.
As people have mentioned, I am working on the eMobius email and communications client right now and that will still take quite a while. While I have lots of plans to integrate some of the new technology developed for eMobius in zMUD in the future, I currently have no schedule for a new version of zMUD. |
