Text output problems

When I install zmud on my computer, I get jarbled text in both zmud window and any text-entering programs that are open while zmud is. For instance, when typing in an address, 'mud.' might come out 'zfre$' or something (dont have specific examples), but this happens in both zmud and any other windows while zmud is open.

This has happened on my old win95 computer, my current win98 computer, and my roommate's winME computer. Suggestions on a fix? I really want to use zmud.

That is really odd. Does this happen with any version of zMUD or just one?

I don't recall in what order I downloaded them most recently, but I tried something like 7x, then a 4x or 5x version, and the first did it as did the second, and possibly a third version... I don't recall if I tried 3 or gave up on the 2nd. This was my first try at more than one version, on the previous computers (the WinME computer and win95), I tried only one and gave up in frustration. I'm downloading zmud right now and updating some files it needed to see if the file updates will fix it and hopefully get some specific jumbled text examples for you.
