Invalid Page Fault |
I'm getting an Invalid Page Fault Kernell.DLL @ 0187:bff6lfac.
I'm running Windows ME, 1.8 P4, 512 Ram, Plenty of HD open, zmud 7.04.
Any ideas? It's getting frustrating. It crashes on me very often.
Thanks for any help,
Barry |

How many programs are you running in the background? zMUD has evolved beyond its plugins, some published plugins are unstable. zMUD has clashed with some programs like ICQ, zone.com-games in the past.

Sounds like the system might be running out of resources. This is more likely to happen if many windows are open, or if there is a resource leak in zMUD.

Other good question would be "when did the crashes start" and "has zmud worked before you upgraded to 7.04?"

I just started running zmud in February and, I have always had occassional crashes but, since the 7.04 ugrade, it crashes quite often. I am not running any other open programs. And, the only windows I open are the main window and the assistant window for triggers, aliases, etc. It doesn't seem to matter when the assistant window is open or not. Norton Security is running in the background. The crashes seem to occur during times when I'm typing rapidly or, using any character rapidly like backspace, etc. I have several programs that run in the background but, I'm unsure which ones I can safely shut off and, I know that Norton uses quite a bit of system resources. I just wondered if anyone else encountering similar problems and knew of a fix. I guess I'll try shutting down the background programs before logging into zmud. Thanks for the feedback. And, I'd appreciate any tips anyone might have.

I haven't had any crashes with zMUD, but my wife uses Windows ME and I hate it. I've always used the NT/2000/XP line of Windows and found them to be much more stable overall than the 95/98/ME line. I wonder if you would continue to have these problems on XP. Has your system crashed a lot and forced you to reboot without shutting down Windows properly? I have had to do that with ME, and in my experience, it causes the system to degrade a little more each time as files are damaged and things become more and more unstable.

I've had problems with ME with certain games. I've debated upgrading to XP. But, I was told that there are problems when doing that as well. The articles I read said you should start over with a full version of xp. For now, I'm sticking with ME simply for cost reasons. However, I'm hoping to load zmud at work which is an NT base system. I'll see what happens that way. I'll just have to live with it for now I guess. Something I learned from the FAQ here was that ME and the others didn't support more than 128k no matter your ram. That's what really got me thinking about an upgrade. Thanks for the help everyone. And, I'd still appreciate any fixes that anyone can think of.
