I got the same error today. I resorted to deleting the Zmud directory and reinstall and that seemed to work.

Windows XP/2000 syncronizes the clock with a server on the net now and then. It's possible that it could have set the clock a few minutes back. Try to wait half an hour before running zMUD and it might work again.

After setting the date correctly, be sure to reboot Windows. Windows has various problems updating it's cache of the time/date in some situations that seem to trigger this problem. Don't know if it's a 3rd party program messing with the date, or a problem in Windows itself. But rebooting after making sure the date/time is set always seems to work for me when this error occurs.
