Counting a list...

I have looked, and have found multiple things dealing with count, or styles of ways, but is there a way to count how many items are in a list? like if...
#var testlist {item1|item2|item3|item4|item5}
exists
how would I found out... how many items are in there?

Sure, %numitems(@testlist) would do the trick for your example. You can find all commands and functions that work with lists by way of the Related buttons at the top of the help page for any of them.
