zMud Still Refuses to Start

You locked the original thread, so I need to open this one. I checked to see that the License services was automatically starting. And it was, but I'm still not getting zMUD 7.01 to open up and start when I click on it. I'm running WindowsXP

Are you running as an admin user or less priviligied user? Do you get any error message when trying to open zMUD?

I am also one of those people who suddenly cannot use Zmud.

This is frustrating, because i have used all prior versions, *AND* i have even been using this version right when it was released. Ive rebooted my computer several times since then, for whatever reasons, and zmud has probably been loaded a dozen times. But, now today, it suddenly refuses to work. I go and check out my elicense thing, and zmud isnt even in there. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, swore several times at it, to no avail.

And the idiots at Viatech have this stupid innocent routine all ready and waiting, asking me questions as if this is the first time i've seen a computer.
Hrm, maybe my computer is sitting too close to the microwave, maybe the damn alignment of the stars is distorting reality! Who can tell! But it's obviously my fault.

Too bad i upgraded.

To get help you need to explain what is wrong. Does any error message show when you attempt to start zMUD? Do you run as admin or user on Windows XP? What OS are you using?

You implied that you aren't new to computers. Then you should also know that there's many different configurations and you need to provide some information.

Of course e-license support is poor. We have seen how great Zuggsoft's is which makes their really bad. Just stay calm and answer their questions.

So you rather play with an old, not supported version of zMUD? Zuggsoft does not make the copy protection. E-license does. It is unfortunate that these copy protections are needed nowadays but without them we wouldn't have zMUD. If you think e-license has a very bad/rude support then email Zuggsoft at support@zuggsoft.com forwarding e-license's emails. That way Zuggsoft can see if the support is that bad.

it's all good, i finally got them to send me the diagnostic tool as i had originally asked for, worked without a hitch.

I was mostly blowing off steam while i waited to find someone who had a clue to talk to me :)

(and the reason why i didnt give you any information, was because i already saw the other posts, and you guys couldnt help them, so there wasnt much point in describing it here) :)

Just a note to the masses - here's the scoop - run the diagnostic utility (you must specifically 'ask' and 'insist' on getting the tool, then run it once, it will do its funky stuff, then run zmud, and insert your special product code. It should work fine, until the next time it breaks down, then just repeat :) j/k

It also helps to update your version of Windows. You didn't mention what version of Windows you are using (which you should know you should ALWAYS report since each version has its own problems). I know that the problem that requires the diagnostic to fix is much more common on Win98 and WinME systems compared to Win2000 and WinXP because of how Microsoft changed how the registry was backed up.
