Startup Error 'Class not Registered'

I've tried reinstalling Zmud, and that hasn't helped. I started having problems when the character databases wouldn't open upon Zmud's startup. I had the option - when that problem occured - to shut down zmud, but it warned against forcing the program to quit, saying something about a 'comm object' and problems that could occur. Now it's gone on to not starting at all. I recently upgraded to 7.01, but this problem, with the databases not working, was going on just prior - and I upgraded hoping to fix the problem.

Anything I can try to get it to work?

I had to reinstall windows xp recently due to a possible virus and I might have neglected activating or installing a needed component.

Thanks ahead of time for any help someone might be able to provide.

Here's a clarification, my 'chardb.mdb' , when in the /zMud folder - makes zmud startup, but then say the 'Unable to start zmud database' thing - then tries to force itself to quit, then I get the comm object warning.

When I don't have the chardb.mdb file in the folder, it says class not registered.

You need to reinstall the Microsoft MDAC database system software on your computer. Go to http://www.zuggsoft.com/data and follow the instructions given there for your version of Windows. If you get an error installing MDAC 2.7, then go to the Microsoft site and get the updated MDAC 2.8 for WinXP.

Is there anything else I can try? That didn't seem to fix the problem. I'll contact windows and ask for assistance from them as well. Thanks for your help! :)
