OK I'm getting there.I have a variable friend.
like so #trigger (%w)says,*
value #addi friend {%1}
So I have all the people from our city only in the variable window.
Now How do I extract them from the others so I can communicate with them. example
the ones in the friend #var how do I change their colour when they say something from the others
and how do I control what I can do or say to them
like umm.... if 1 is following me ,,instead of his name I use @friend as he is listed in the #var box. eg, {heal a @friend} using a macro''(perform hands @friend}...But nothing happens
I left something out ....what?

You left out reading the helpfiles.

%selword and maybe using @friends the right way like with %item
