mapper has closed dataset

I set up the mapper in zMUD. It appears to be autoconfigured correctly and I think it works fine in follow mode, but when I put it in map creation mode it gives me a popup error window when I type any commands into zMUD: RoomRs: Cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset. Even when I switch back to follow mode it still does the same thing, but the popup window has a text area in it as well.
I couldn't find anything about closed datasets in the first 5 pages of forum topics so any help would be much appreciated.

I used to get that myself, You cant execute any extra commands on top of a preset config unless you exit the program and do it manually.When that happened to me I shut the mapper down and then reopened it deleted the last 2 rooms or whatever caused it , then just continued .No more hitches
