Window docking |
Is there a way to obtain the following window configuration:
+=============================+
|-Win-1------|-Map------------|
|------------|----------------|
+=============================+
|-Main-window-----------------|
|-----------------------------|
|-----------------------------|
+=============================+
When I try to obtain sth like that I either get the Win 1 & Map tiled vertically or tabbed. So, the question is - is it possible to split the main window horizontally and then split the upper half vertically? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. |

Hiya,
It should be possible. One way to do it is first set up Win1 and the main so they are splitted up. Then you 'tab' Map into Win 1. After that it should possible to move the tabbed Map to the right.
I do something similar at least.

This is possible. It may not be easy. The window docking code is the best it can be, but it remains flaky so patience is required.
These are the steps I used to create the layout you provided.
1. Type <Alt+V>, hover over Preferences and click General.
2. At the bottom of the left pain of the preferences window, click Windows and then in the right side of the preferences window, check Use ALT for docking. Click Apply then OK.
3. Type <Alt+L>, hover over Auto Tiling and click None.
4. Type <Alt+L>, hover over Quick Tiling and click None.
5. Type <Alt+W>, at the bottom of the menu select Main window.
6. Manipulate the Main window so that it is the correct size. If you want it docked to the Menu Bar and Settings bar, hold down the <Alt> key and drag it toward the top of your screen till it sticks or rubs agains the Menu Bar. Release the <Alt> key then the mouse button.
7. Type <Alt+W>, at the bottom of the menu select Win 1.
8. Hold down the <Alt> key and drag the window to the top center of the Main window until the outline is correctly placed. Release the <Alt> key then the mouse button.
9. Type <Alt+W>, select AutoMapper.
10. In the Automapper window, click the down-pointing triangle in the Menu Bar located to the right of Help. Select Dockable.
11. Hold down the <Alt> key and drag the AutoMapper window to the right center of Win 1 until the outline is correctly placed. Release the <Alt> key then the mouse button.
12. The layout should now resemble your example. To ensure it remains this way, type <Alt+L> and click Lock Layout. This will cause the layout to remain fixed no matter how you click on the various windows.
13. Finally type <Alt+L and click Save Layout. This will cause this layout to load the next time you open this character. |
