Zmuds intermittent locking up (different situation

I've had absolutlE! no problems with Zmud till i Installed mcaffe personal firewall.. i have win98 all patched everything is upgraded and up-to-date hardware software etc.

it happens with any mud or even if i use zmud through a proxy program, every 5-10 minutes where i type stuff in or not when it locks up it locks my whole system for anywhere to 2-10 seconds my cpu fan sound lowers like theres a massive powerdrain cpu activity on the system.

Now i'm obviously thinking it's the firewall (it has to be) but theres nothing or no settings i've tried that stops this funky problem from happening.

So My question is since someone else has to be using the same firewall program, is what else or where in my computer can i go to try and alleviate this problem, settings to check, program online i can use to try and track it down etc.

Any help appreciated
Z

zMUD isnt happy with some firewalls, I've heard of wierdness with both McAffee and ZoneAlarm. Two firewalls that seems to be fine with it so far are Kerio's personal firewall, and PC-Cillan's antivirus and firewall package.

Just a personal observation - zMUD has worked flawlessly on my system with Norton Personal Firewall.

I have no problems running zmud with TrendMicro's pc-cillin's built-in firewall. Works great.
