Zmud Mapper |
Hi
I play a mud called Aetolia(works more or less the same as Achaea)No i cant get the mapper to work. It doesnt record the rooms at all.
Approach to the Aureliana Forest.
The stars twinkle in the clear night sky. A low-lying wild ginger plant is
growing here. A purple coneflower grows here, its large stalk straining towards
the sky. A red elm tree grows here, its branches gently swaying in the breeze.
A green-flowered ginseng plant has been planted here. A low-slung myrrh bush is
here. A lobelia wildflower is growing here. Silent and observant, a red fox
stands here, alertly watching all with a cunning glint of the eye. Hackles
raised, an adult grey wolf sniffs the air for enemies. Nervously pacing, a
small brown lemming scampers under your feet. A raven the colour of night
perches nearby and observes curiously with beady black eyes. A grumpy badger
stands here, snuffling about angrily. Fluttering on delicate wings, a huge
gossamer butterfly flits about the room. Cottony Faol, The Azdun Wolf is here.
He wields a throwing axe in his left hand and a hunter's spear in his right.
Faroth's Little Nightingale, Rhaea Thalion-Forestwalker is here. She wields a
pair of cute bunny panties in her left hand and a hunter's spear in her right.
You see exits leading north, southeast, south and southwest

Unfortunetly...even if you flip through all the posts concerning mapping any of Iron Realms's games(Achaea, Imperian, and Aetolia), you will almost certainly not be completely satisfied.
First things first...do not check "name ends with period". Unfortunetly...most room names in these MUDs don't. There is actually a space after each room name that doesn't end in (path) or (road).
This is what I use for configuration of the mapper in Imperian and it works fairly well as long as you pay attention.
RoomName Section
Room Name: Checked
Paragraph and Start Line Both 0
Match Room Name at Start of Line: Checked
Everything else unchecked
RoomDescription Section
Room Description: Checked
Paragraph Line: 0
Start Line : 1
Multi-line Description : checked
RoomExits Section
Room Exits : Checked
Pargraph Start : 0
Exits Start Line : 3
Multi-line Exits : checked
Use entire exit paragrah: checked
Everything else unchecked
Now...my key is that I keep weather off and my room descriptions briefed. This minimizes differences each time you enter a room. Do not try to map too fast either. You have to watch out for things that happen in the room as you are there(players, creatures). If they change and you re-enter the room in mapping mode, the mapper will create a whole separate room. Best thing to do is if you need to go back into a room you have already mapped, switch to follow mode.
Another thing is to keep Speedwalking on SLOW mode. Even then..I sometimes get going to fast for the mapper to verify the room name. If the room name ends up on the same line as your prompt the speedwalker won't recognize it. Same during mapping. |
