Zmud refuses to start

Zmud 6.62
Win XP
240 mb ram (laptop)
I have been using zmud for about 2-3 weeks now. Today I tried to start it, but no matter how many times I tried the startup file it didn't launch zmud. When I opened the task manager and then tried starting zmud, the processor usage jumped up but dropped back down again. Occasionally the SysFader string would appear on the taskmanager for a fraction of a second. I have added no software to my computer since I last used zmud that I can recall.
I've tried closing all non-essential processes, restarting the computer, turning off my antivirus, but still the same result.

make sure you did not disable LicCtrl. Its part of E-lisence and is required to run zmud.
