Speedwalking X rooms at a time

I was wondering if anyone has written a script to do this:

Speed walk to a destination, but only run X (5/10) rooms in a block.

It's just that I have some long destinations that can be dangerous, so I would like to be able to run a bit, and then not send the next set of directions until the previous set passed without incident.

I guess the easiest way to achive this would be a command to retrieve the path to a destination, and just take the first X moves from the list, and then just call it over and over untill the destination is reached.

I thought I had this figured out, using a left function on %pathexpand(%walk(1))

But the path expand gives some directions as "j" & "k" instead of sw and ne ??

Any ideas?
