Need Help - Zmud not Running |
I have reported this problem in the bug reports, but thought that all of you Zmud junkees out there might be able to help me out too, so here goes.
The other day, for some reason beyond my knowledge to explain, my Zmud ceased to work. When trying execute Zmud now, I get the loading screen well enough, but from there one of two things happens: 1) The loading screen stays there and never goes away. I have to CTRL + ALT + DEL my way out of it. 2) A popup error message jumps up saying that a 'data provider' returned an 'E_FAIL' status of some sort.
I have tried a number of things to rectify this, such as: Unlicensing and relicensing the product. Uninstalling and reinstalling the product. Uninstalling and installing a different version of the product (using 6.62, tried out 6.40). None of these things helped the problem at all.
If it will be of any assistance, I'm using Win98SE, Zmud 6.62. Will post other information if needed.
If this isn't the place to post this problem, then I apologise in advance. I notice that most of the stuff posted on this forum concerns the running of scripts and stuff and not things which might cause errors to popup.

This is exactly the right place to post asking for help with all things zMud.
The problem sounds to be related MDAC and JET40 components that zMud uses. Most probably caused by a component being corrupted, deleted, or uninstalled. The best place to find solutions to this will be:
http://www.zuggsoft.com/data
On that page you will find links and a few troubleshooting steps specific to your OS version. I do not believe Zugg has had a chance to update the page with the most recent data, but everything can readily be found from the links to MS. |

Bingo. Thanks. Just did a fresh install of MDAC and it's working as well as it ever did.
