Medievia and automapper |
I have just started Medievia and have run into a couple of problems related to the zMUD automapper. Hopefully someone can help out.
After running the configure utility, a new room is created and the correct info (name, description, and exits) are placed on the map but...
1) Automapper refuses to create new rooms as I move about. And yes, before you ask, I am in the Follow mode. Are there special options I should be adding to the automapper settings?
2) Medievia does not send the exit info when doing a Look. As such, doing a refresh of the room info, using the automapper (using look), should fail to produce an correct update. Is there a workaround for this or is there an option I can set on Mediavia when sending a Look? |

1) You have to be in Map mode for the mapper to create new rooms.
2) Is there no option you can set in Medievia to automatically display exits? If there is not, then you could perhaps create a trigger that would fire every time you enter a new room and sends the command to display the exits of the room. Another trigger would then parse this info and manually create the exits in the current room of the mapper. |

1) Doh [8]
2) Medievia displays exits when moving from room to room. That is not the problem. The problem lays in the fact that when a 'look' is sent to Medievia, Med only returns the room name, and description. To get the exit info, Med has to receive a 'exit' command. When I try to reload room info using the automapper, Med only returns the room name, & description. The exit info is never sent to the automapper. |

I see, then it seems like you will need to recreate the exits yourself by parsing the output of the exit command. Change the look command in the Map Properties to look;exit so that it sends the command automatically and have some triggers that fire when they see the output of the exit command.

Just a follow up to my question.
The automapper started acting wierd. Besides not picking up room description, it refused to send a 'look'. I took a guess that the registry got messed up so reinstalled. It works fine now. |
