Mod Div issue & Look up table concept

Can't seem to wrap my head today around this.

Working on tracking the moon in the game. With the intent of giving predictions when it will be full [}:)].

It rises for 58 minutes, sets for 58 minutes.
It does this four times a phase.

Moons come in 8 phases (full,F+1,F+2,F+3,New,F-3,F-2,F-1) so it should be around 61 hours and 51 minutes for a full rotaion. ((58 minutes up+58 minutes down) * 4 times that way * 8 phases)

Key is to see it rise in a phase then rise again in another phase. If you see that change then you can predict when full will be. If you see it the same twice then you have a +/- situation.

What is the best way having seen it rise twice that I can look up and do a calculation for when it will be full.

Let's see if I understood correctly.

How about you set-up a list with the time left for the next full moon each of the phases assuming that it is the first day of that phase:
Full: 3712 mins
F+1: 3248 mins
F+2: 2784 mins
F+3: 2320 mins
New: 1856 mins
F-1: 1392 mins
F-2: 928 mins
F-3: 464 mins

The values on the list can also be calculated as needed by the formula you gave. Now, after having seen it rise twice, you have a flag set to true if there was a phase change. If the flag is true, you can just report the time associated with the new phase. If it's false, then you can only assume that the time left is current phase minus 116, 232, or 348. Each time it rises again in the same phase, you can eliminate the possibility with more time left, and after at most four times it has risen, you should know exactly in which one you are.

Does the mud have a time command and its own calendar system? Have you checked for any correlation possibility between that and the moon?
