Windows Layout issue

When I save my windows layout, next time I log in, it successfully places the windows in the right positions and sizes... but my sub-windows always tack on the command line and status line, and I only want those on the main window. Any hints?
(currently, I go to each sub window every time I log on and right-click, uncheck "status line" and "attach command line") |

Remove the command line and status bar from the windows you don't want them. Then, select each of these windows and click on Settings|Save. If prompted, be sure that each settings file has the same name as that window.
