Auto reconnect and multi connections |
Can anyone tell me how to turn the reconnect off. I am really pissing the mud owner off with the auto reconect every 10 sec with a time out if afk.
second problem is sometimes i connect 3 or upto 6 times with the mud before i get a log on screen. is this due to zmud or the mud i connect to. and finaly is there a way to extend the time in zmud that waits for responce from mud server befor retrying connection. whew. version 6.62 on dsl with p2 333 64megs ram laptop
thanks |

I don't remember if #disconnect avoids automatic reconnect tries, but I tend to think it does. Check the help file.
You can also look in zMUD's Prefs dialog for Connection settings that could help with the timing of things. A thorough search of the helpfile should reveal the secrets.

I have remove the #disconnect but the auto reconnect still engages. as for the timing of waitin for mud responce its not listed in help files just timing for autoreconnect is listed and is unchangable. I just want to remove autoreconnect. I will keep diggin and I will find it. thanks for the help though.
btw its only been an issue with the last 2 versions good old 5.55 never did this. alas back to the books. |

Auto Reconnect can be disabled using Preferences.
Prefs button
Connection page
Auto Reconnect -- uncheck box
Multiple connections (3-6 times) on the same login are usually due to a slow IP lookup. You can adjust your lookup times in Preferences.
Prefs button
Connections -- expand
IP address lookup page
Min Timeout
Max Timeout
Timeout Inc
You can eliminate IP lookup by supplying the IP address as the Hostname. However, this means you'll have to update it manually whenever the address changes.
Character selection window
Edit button
MUD tab
Host -- copy the numbers from Addr: below Session ID (press Lookup button if empty)
To change the time zMUD waits between reconnect attempts
Prefs button
Connection window
Reconnect Time
Reconnect Time 2
Connect Timeout
Of course, any MUD owner would prefer you to just logoff (or at least go linkdead by disconnecting) when you're going to be AFK for extended periods of time.

Darker, you were correct. guess changes made to zmud don't take effect untill rebooted. hm but yep deleating #disconnect did indead take care of that. now just the timing. thanks dood.

ok thanks lightbulb i will check them out. the problem is when zmud detects loss of connection for either party the autoreconnect pops up to try to reestablish the connection. I am alway on due to having a 'immortal' on the mud and do help/quest/and stuff.
anyhow thats for the great info. I need to do more zmud work and less mudding. |
