passwords in an old version

After I reformatted my hd I realized I had no hard copy of my char login password. I've got one copy of ver.616 simply copied to cd rom. I put this on my hardrive and clicked the exe on a whim. It wants to reg by elicence and I backed off, as I don't know what I'm doing. I have no files called mudchar.dat anywhere even in the zmud dir. What can I do?

At the top of this page there's a link titled SUPPORT. If you hover your mouse-pointer over it, you should get a dropdown menu which includes Lost Registration code. Click on that.

If you don't have the dropdown feature, just click the SUPPORT button, and there will probably be a link on that page.

EDIT: Oops. Looks like I rushed a little and misread this one. I thought you were looking for your zMUD password.

Copy any chardb.* file to the zMUD directory of your new version.
