Sound no longer working after upgrade / new pc

Hi,

I have an annoying problem and I must be missing the obvious but who knows any of you can point me out to the good direction ...

The " #PLAY gen.wav " is no longer working on a lot of triggers. This is what happened ...

I got a new laptop (a beauty ...)and one of the first things I did was reinstalling ZMUD with great success except for the sound ...

OS W2K - SP3
soundcard working fine with mediaplayer
WAV file is associated with mediaplayer (could this be it ?)

ZMUD version 6.62 (clean install over standard directory containing the previous version wich I restored from a ZIP file)

My one little warning sound is the directory

D:ZMUDGenesisSoundsarma.wav

This worked fine in all previous versions / other laptop

In view > preferences > Sound I see all the sounds with a green mark but pushing the sound button doesn't make any noise not on the wav and not on the standards allthough their path is correct.

Playing the sound from explorer works just fine.

I read the MXP note and disabled the setting Enable Mud Extension Protocol but to no avail.

I have to admit I only searched for the last 120 days since a full search made the SQL hiccup on a time out ... ;-)

Is it because media player (version 9) is the default for WAV ?

Is it because I used to have the plugin for speech and didn't reinstall ?

Is it a bug (most probably not) ?

Anyway ... right now it is like the sound of silence ... and I would like to find my way over this bridge with troubled water ...

Any suggestions ?

THNX
K.

PS This new version 6.62 flies ...
