Question about &var triggers and variable paths. |
I'm sort of specific on how I like to keep files orgainzed, and in all my class folders for triggers and variables and such I try to keep them all in the right places. I don't particularly want any variables/triggers in the root folder, for example.
So anyway, in the Value field for triggers I always put the whole path name (like ./Gauges/var etc.). However, I create my triggers using the &var method of creating a variable instead of the (%d) + #VARIABLE %1 command method.
Problem with that is doing so creates the variables inside the root class (I think it creates them in the active class folder, haven't checked). I was wondering if there's a way to create a variable within a specific class folder using the &var method or if I should use the (%d) + #VARIABLE %1 method to do that?
Actually, also wondering if I'm posting too often on the board recently... I've been coming up with bunches of questions and wanna make sure nobody thinks I'm spamming up the board or anything ;) |

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way of using the &var method that will create a variable anywhere other than the trigger's default class. The trigger's default class will be the class the trigger is in, if that class has the setdef option enabled. Otherwise, it will be either the None (root) class or the current class (set with the #CLASS command) if different. You'll have to test to find out which.
Ask as many questions as you want. That's what the forum is for.

Thanks once again, I think the 'set as default' option was what I was missing. I'll try that and see how the variables are created then.
