Merged with an Immortal?

I know this isn't a z-mud issue, but can someone tell me how this happens?
I go to log on and I can't.
When I check my character I find out that it's immortal level.
A not-to-nice immortal tells me, oh, Your character has been merged with an immortal. We'll be in touch. *poof*
What causes this?

Sounds like a game problem you should start a new character and get into the game and talk with an Immortal about your problem also try writing them.
Has your password been changed ,have you done something you were not supposed to do?
