"Class not registered" or msjetoledb40.dll error

It has been reported that some people are getting an error when they try to install the Jet 4.0 OLEDB SP6 files, or they get the "Class not registered" error when they run zMUD 6.40 or later.

It turns out that some versions of Microsoft Jet OLEDB do not properly register themselves or install properly. According to the Microsoft web site, in order to install Jet 4.0 SP6, you already need to have Jet 4.0 SP3 on your system. Why they couldn't probably release an installer that just includes everything and properly registers their DLL is beyond me.

In any case, I have updated the Zuggsoft Windows Help page (that's what it's becoming) at http://www.zuggsoft.com/data with the latest instructions for all versions of Windows.

(I also added the Winsock 2 instructions for Win95 users).

So, please follow the steps given on that page to ensure the the Microsoft system software is installed correctly on your computer. Maybe someday Microsoft will make this stuff easier instead of harder.
