Autologin problems |
I've been using the various 6.5x versions, with which I've had no problem until recently.
The problem I'm currently having is not, I think, related to the version in use.
I did something (not sure what; don't think it's important) that screwed up the settings file for my main MUD.
Couldn't fix it, so I got rid of those settings files & backups (the whole directory), deleted all the relevant entries in my character DB, and connected anew, to rebuild the file. I don't do anything fancy with scripts, so it wasn't a huge loss.
For some reason, zMUD now doesn't create an autologin when I create a new character and enter username and password.
I can't figure out why; parsing & triggers, etc., are all turned on.
After quite a bit of frustration, I copied down relevant information for all my other character DB entries and uninstalled zMUD.
I made sure there were no traces that I could find - zMUD directory gone, etc., and I hadn't changed any settings regarding where zMUD stores its .ini and other stuff.
Then, I reinstalled zMUD 6.40 (current public release), figuring if I got autologin working I'd upgrade later to 6.5x beta, or whatever it is. However, I *still* can't get autologins created.
Any ideas? |

For version 6.40 (other versions may differ)
Start at the character selection screen. Select the character that has problems, and click the Offline button. Click the Prefs button. Go to Script Parser/General Parsing. Make sure Enable Auto login is checked. If it's not, enabling it may be all you need, provided you have the correct triggers. Close Prefs.
Click the Triggers button. There should be an Autolog folder, double-click that. It should have two triggers, one for your name and the other for your password. The patterns should match your MUD's logon prompts, including capitalization and leading/trailing spaces. On the options tab, the options should normally be:
Case Sensitive, Verbatim, Trigger on Trigger, and Prompt checked; all others unchecked. Typical commands for the Name should be:
#CH
and for the Password:
#PW
#T- autolog
Close the trigger editor.
From the Files menu, Close Window.
If the class (folder) or triggers don't exist, you'll have to make your own. You may be able to do so automatically:
Click the Edit button. Go to the Character tab. After making certain that you know the character's name and password, delete these fields. zMUD should prompt you to create new triggers when you logon (you might need to logon twice).
If zMUD didn't prompt you to create new triggers, you can still create your own. After logging on, select the MUD's name prompt with the mouse, then click Triggers. Select the Autolog class, then click New. For the Pattern, paste in the name prompt:
Enter selection, or name:
For the Value:
#CH
Set the options as above.
Repeat for the password, setting the Value to:
#PW
#T- Autolog
Go back to the Character selection screen and Edit again. Fill in your name and password. You should now be all set.
