missing mapper zonefiles ?

i switched recently to zmud 6.40, converting my .map files into the .mdb without any problems. for the new zones i made since then, no .map files seem to be created. i opened the .mdb file, and noticed that the ZoneFile field is empty for all my new maps. are no single zone files created anymore? if so, is there some way to export single zones? i just wand to backup the new zones, and share them with friends, without having to share the whole .mdb file.

No, single files for each zone are no longer created. However, since the map is now a standard Access database, you may export an individual zone using Access. You could also use zMapper to export zones.

i tried to export/import a zone using access, but i didn't succeed because of my non-existent access skills. i only got as far as identifying the rooms using the ObjectTbl and the ZoneID. has anyone done this before who could tell me how to proceed, or is there a helppage on that topic somewhere?

It's easy. First open your map database in Access. Now select the Queries tab and click on New. Choose to use the Design View. In the Show Table window that appears, double-click on ObjectTbl and ZoneTbl and click Close. Now, double-click the * field in ObjectTbl and double-click the Name field in ZoneTbl. Uncheck Show for the Name field of ZoneTbl (in the lower pane of the window), and enter the name of the zone you want to export into Criteria, right below where you unchecked Show (be sure to enter the name exactly as it appears on the mapper). Now close the query, give it a name when asked and run it. Once the query is open, go to File|Export..., select the filetype, give it a name and click Save All.

You might also want to export the exits information for a particular zone. To do that repeat the process above, but include the ExitTbl table too, don't include the * field of ObjectTbl, and include the * field of ExitTbl. You also need to link ExitTbl to ObjectTbl. To do that, just drag the FromID field of ExitTbl to ObjectTbl and a line appears between those two.
