Advice on corruption/errors

When opening my character today, it gave me a corrupted layout error, and then told me it couldnt open the .lay for my character.

Restarted zmud, same message, but then it loaded my character.

Not sure what to do I unlocked the layout, and resaved it.

What else should I do, if anything?

You have two options. First one is to edit your Character properties and uncheck the Use this Layout option. This will cause ZMud to load up all your windows without problem, but they won't be where you want them. Move them as desired, and reactivate the Use this layout feature in Character properties. After saving, go ahead and save your layout (and settings files for each window for good measure). You will be back to good as new until next time the layout gets corrupted.

Just to satisfy your curiosity, you can follow the steps in the Migration Guide to see if something in your settings files (all of them) is causing the problems.
