is there a way to minimise zMud and make it ask for a password upon attempting to resume? and if so does zmud continue to run triggers etc... while minimised in this form if it exists?

Use the #AFK command. You can either use it with a password:
#AFK password

or by itself:
#AFK

which will then prompt you for a password. Also, I haven't tested, but I think it does continue to run triggers.
