loading a database? |
I have a file a friend sent to me, eq.db, which he said is the database he stores his identified items in zmud in. zMUD will not open it. If i open in word, I get nothing, If I open in notepad, I get ALOT of gibberish, and the file size is like 115kb so I know it isn't empty.
Is there a way to convert it, or another program that can open it?
I tried access and excel, didnt work.

How does zMUD not open it? Does it give an error? If so, what error?

When I click the db button, then click file open, or the load database button, and select the file, it does nothing...no error, no movement, nothing at all :(
It was made in 6.16, I have tried opening in 6.16 and 6.4.
Any programs that will open .db files?

how do I tell if it was saved as a binary file?
I know I can open it in notepad and there is tons of stuff, some of which I can make out.

Sorry, I have no idea what could be the problem except that the database file might be corrupted. I can open .db files fine in zMUD.
.db files are zMUD Database files. They are opened only with the database module in zMUD.

Interestingly enough, I had the same issue, reported it, and got about the same answer. I'm going to attempt to e-mail zugg my database, and see if there is a corruption in it or not. (I'm pretty sure there is no corruption, I copied it from one drive to another while reinstalling, reinstalled, and nothing)
I'm also going to do some checking into the MS Jet versions, perhaps there is something that I had done before to XP-Pro that I had not done this time that went unchecked, or perhaps a newer version is required for XP-Pro, who knows.
Hopefully I'll find SOME way to open this one

Well, I've confirmed it's not a JET driver issue (or if it is, they've introduced it into the latest version), as I'm running the latest version posted on the Microsoft website.
That boils it down to either zMUD, or a corrupt DB, I've e-mailed my databases to Zugg, in hopes of perhaps getting his opinion on which of those 2 it is
