Parsing not working at all in Nethack

I like to play the game Nethack online. I want to use Zmud to automate creating characters. My problem is that Zmud does not seem to be able to parse this vt100 style game at all! For example, if I set a trigger to recognize the word "dagger" it never recognizes the word even though it is clearly on the screen. I'm sure that both parsing and triggers are on. I'm picking my brain at what seems a very basic thing here (I'm formerly an advanced user of zmud). What am missing? I've tried playing with a lot of preference variables to no avail.

Can someone PLEASE use zmud to telnet to "nethack.alt.org" (port 23) and figure out how to get zmud to parse the incoming text? You can create a character on the fly there.

Thanks.

P.S. I was able to get triggers to work in a regular mud that I selected at random so something is definetly going on with trying to get parsing to work in the nethack server.

Try setting the trigger to Trigger on Prompt. I can't test right now, but I'll try later.

Actually, I was finally able to read some general text but I'm still having trouble parsing the command line which shows the stats. If you could still take a look then I'd appreciate it.

Nope, sorry, I'm guessing that you won't be able to do much with zMUD's triggers in that game. They just were not made for stuff like that. You can e-mail Zugg for more info if you want, but I don't think you'll be able to do much more.
