You might notice in the section that you quoted that I mentioned I did like importing scripts from the CMUD Editor. It's great to be able to easily edit the scripts right there in CMUD and not have to always use an external editor and the Import (ASCII) option. I'm just saying that I already do have an extensive library of scripts that I'd like to be able to import/convert with some sort of import command. It seems I'll just end up loading them in the editor and fixing them up to import them... I can live with it. It's just different. :) |
rofl yep you did my bad.. :P
i have had some success with reading the file in directly using the # commands. But you still have to fix them :/
The best way for me was to file open the MUD when its converted to a package then i switch my session properties to open the PKG instead and then i pull out the scripts i want into new packages and save them then i remove everything from sessions properties and work on them 1 by 1 |

I just tried the flyout feature with my chat windows and it works the same. It means Chat Windows etc that I don't need immediately won't take up valuable screen real estate!
I LOVE THAT FEATURE!!!
I can now re-imagine and re-design my entire screen layout. |

You had all those problems on 1.01? I still have regular crashes in 1.01, but at least now I'm able to load settings and play around for a bit longer than before. |
My primary .mud file does that after loading it even on the new version. I'm not sure which settings it is that is causing the errors yet, because of work lately, but I'll send Zugg my .mud when he gets back in town (if I haven't just figured out the problem by then). |

I have to say the layout for me. The built in editor with spell check is great as well. This is a nice improvement. I 'm excited about using the client! Great work Zugg.

I like a lot of the features that have been added, and I can see a lot of uses I can get out of CMUD other than MUD'ing.
I'm somewhat inexperienced with Zmud and MUDs, thus maybe not the best candidate for beta testing, but I've been pretty confused with the new Edit Settings window. I noticed that when I tried to create a trigger or alias, it gets thrown into a package called "untitled." It would seem like it should allow me to rename it or do so automatically...but I dunno how. Like others have mentioned, they don't seem to save...as soon as I reopen Cmud, it's wiped clean.
If I jump through a couple hoops with creating a new package, creating an alias, trigger, etc., saving the package, and manually opening it the next time I open Cmud, then it seems to be ok.
The overall look is very nice and it seems like cmud will be a totally awesome program...just seems like it could be tweaked a bit for newer users such as myself. Any crashes or bugs aren't bothering me since it's obviously beta and can be reported automatically. |
Well I have to agree here. I think CMUD looks great and so on, however, it seems to be getting more complicated. Also by reading other threads it seems as if some of you are looking at everything from a programmers point of view rather than a customer. Programmers have a way of turning simple things into complicated things. Please remember this. It's great and wonderful, and I can see those who are used to programming all excited about certain things and so on. However, the whole point of making a program is to help the user accomplish something not to make the user learn how to do everything just to use the program. That's my opinion anyway. |

A welcome update!
I have been using ZMUD for over 9 years now, CMUD made me feel like a total newbie, the user interface is alot better, yeah its a little rough around the edges, but its still a new program.
I even paid the fill $29.95 for it even tho i was able to get the half price discount...
Nice work Zugg.. look forwards to seeing the finished product :)

Keep in mind that CMud is full of really serious bugs right now (the most serious being the "being completely unable to connect to Simutronics MUDs" bug) and all but a few of them are impacting even the littlest things. Your post is really vague, so it's probably in everyone's best interests if such complaints have very specific examples attached with them--not only can Zugg explain why it was done that way, but he can also accede that doing it the way he did turned out to be a bad idea or demonstrate why it shouldn't be done your way. |
