My Dependency Walker reported *.2982 from the WinSxS directory. Also it reported this message as well for Test Edit 3.0
Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module. The error seems tied to MPR.dll
File Version: 6.0 (xpsp.060825-0040)
Product Version: 6.00.2900.2982
Size: 1,054,208 bytes
Mod Date: 8/25/2006 |

I just ran the new tests. They all failed for me. Test Edit 3.5 failed a little differently though. I didn't see the double draw that i was used to seeing with the problem. However when I backspaced nothing was deleted, but the cursor moved backwards. When typed new information it was placed on top of the old text. Delete seemed to redraw the characters one place over.

Reread the first post and my following one, Tech, and look at the screenshots. Your description of this "new" problem sounds exactly like the problem I've always had, and the OP reported as well. Were you having a different issue?
I'm still not seeing this .zip with 5 files in it :S |

Try empty your browser's cache. |

No we were all having the same problem I think. As I typed the other text that I typed would start to look like it was bolded and backspacing seemed to make it worse. In Test Edit 3.5 I didn't see the bolded effect and backspacing also did not affect text quality.
I reran my tests and backspacing doesn't seem to affect the bold effect, it's just that type fast, so it always seemed to by the time I started backspacing.
Bottom line is that it fails differently so I'll say the form hooks are part of the problem.
Fang:
Try doing a forced refresh of the browser (or clearing you cache). |

Oh, and regarding a new version. At this point I think I'm going to be forced to give up on this bug for now. The 3.5 test is the simplest test program I can product. I doesn't have any of my own code, and it's using the released version of DevExpress code. So if it still fails, then it's a DevExpress bug and not something I'm going to easily fix.
I'm several versions behind on DevExpress stuff. They just released a huge new update with the new toolbar system. So the best thing for me to do is to just spend the time getting their new version working with CMUD. But I'm not doing this right away, because it's a lot of work to convert to their new toolbar system and then reapply all of the possible patches that I've developed over the years for various issues that they might not have addressed.
I'm still completely clueless on how this could have broken for people all at the same time. As I said, the test program is horribly simple and doesn't contains the source code files from the DevExpress version I was using for CMUD 1.24. It's obviously somehow related to specific DLLs and drivers on specific computers, but I don't see how this could have changed for everyone unless Microsoft did an update that everyone got (but I didn't).
But I feel like I'm just wasting precious time at this point and getting myself frustrated over something I don't have much control over.
I want to release an update later today, but while we've been debugging this stuff, I've also been putting in some Style system changes, and I need to finish those changes before I can do a release today. |

Tech: Ah, well I always typed different text to what was there before - it showed up with both words I'd typed layered on top of each other. I didn't try typing the same word because I assumed it'd be impossible to tell the difference.
Rorso, Tech and Zugg: My browser cache is deliberately very small - too small to cache that zip file. I really don't think it was that. Utterly bizarre.
Finally, like Tech, all five of these versions fail. Seems like it's only a cosmetic bug, though, so it's not really serious. Don't lose any sleep over it. |

The page gives more info and mentions a directory you can check that has all of the ids in it.
And the file comes from having Visual Studios installed yes.
Sorry for the long delay but I'm the only IT staff at work today and things got rough. |

Easier said than done.

Yeah, but until I figure out what's going on, I'll never know if it's effecting something more serious and causing other weird bugs. Also, for people who have the problem, it makes the product seem very unprofessional and could definitely still hurt sales. |
