Mapper Error Please Read |
I just upgraded to the newest version of Zmud today, but to a new machine so before today there were no ZMUD files on this computer, one of the things I've always loved about ZMUD is the mapper, so I was pretty disappointed when I fire it up on a MUD I haven't visited in a year (a HUGE place, and I get lost easily even in reality)and it doesn't work. I go to configure the mapper and it will say it configured successfully, but then when I move to the next room after I configure it, I get the following message:
"RoomRs: cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset"
Now how could there be anything wrong with the files when there were no other ZMUD files on this computer to begin with? (I read someone had a similar error on another post, but with a different start other than RoomRs)
In addition, once I get this error, anything I type in the command line is shown in a text box, with the mapper error as the tile, "operation cannot be performed on a closed dataset" and it will keep doing that until I actually close the mapper entirely.
Please help me if you can, my thanks in advance.
oops? What do you mean oops? I know what it means when I say oops, what does it mean when you say oops? |

I'd like to do that, but I log in and go to it and it says I don't have access to that forum :(

Basically what it says is to go to this page and follow the instructions there to update MDAC and the Jet drivers.

The only other thing I can think of is to try deleting the .mdb file that has your map and creating a new one.

Ok, by some miracle I got the mapper working, I ended up doing a complete delete and reinstall of ZMUD and a reinstall of JET and MDAC...and the mapper works..but I'm getting the same minor problems as I've had with earlier versions of it.
Hopefully since they are tiny problems they are easily fixed.
Problem 1: After I auto config the mapper, it appears to work fine except the mapper wants to insert an open command almost every time I walk, for example if I walk west it will put open w, then I'll move to the room.
But when I try using speedwalk it gets cancelled out because of open commands that shouldn't be there, and the mapper inserts door links in rooms with no doors just open exits. And if it has anything to do with it, I did the autoconfig in a room with open exits not doors. What's wierd, is that when I move in another direction, say south, the mud will print open w and then I'll move south, of course getting the error for not opening anything along with moving to the next room.
Any ideas???
Problem 2: ups and downs, rooms above and below rooms overlap on the map, for example, there's a room with an up exit and a down exit, the mapper only shows the original level when I hold the cursor over it, which is troublesome for walking paths. I realize this one is fixed in the help files, but even the simplest of those goes over my head right now.
Again, ideas??? a fix???
Thank you everyone by the way for your help with my earlier problem.
