Database templates |
I was working with the database features of CMUD and I noticed that the reference manual says I can create a database based on a template. I don't seem to have any templates. Is that expected? Is there anyway to get some templates?

I don't think it comes with any templates.
Historically the interface with external databases has been a bit problematic.
Are you familiar with database variables?
I find their implementation along with json variables much more useful then external databases. |

Are you referring to the database feature built into CMUD as using an external database? I'm using a database variable to store the current items information, and then I load that database variable into the database I created using CMUD.

I was if only because I thought you were.
That seems to be the only place where a template would even be relevant.
I cannot find any reference of a template in a quick search of the #HELP files.
You can quickly define several fields at once...
#VAR VarName {Name1=Value1|Name2=Value2|Name3=Value3|etc...}
If you can explain what you are trying to do, I can offer more help. |

I was trying to speed up the process of creating the database. I'm all set now. I just ended up creating all the fields and was able to use triggers to identify items, capture stats from those items, and place those stats into a database. Sure made it easier to identify which item had the better stats when you have hundreds of items. Now if only I can get the MUD I play on to add the slot an item is worn on to the pieces of information you learn when you identify an item.
