So, the mouoseover hint should be
<name> \n #<vnum>
Giving me something like
Billy Bob's House of Fun
#23188
BUT
the hint does not use the name, it uses the SHORTNAME and there appears to be no way to change it. Using either <name> or <id> gives the same result.
\eg.

#23188
