problems with movement char . and syntax

Up until recently, i could create an alias that used the movement key .

This would make me step north and then east:

.ne

I got this synxax by copy and pasting the text in the save path to room dialogue that pops up from right clicking on a room in the map and choosing save path to room.

Recently - this stopped working. If i do .ne it tries to send ne, rather than n followed by e on the next line.

Now - if i right click and choose save path to room, i get a different syntax. I get:

.(n);.(e)

This new format works. What happened? What setting did i accidentally change that made .ne stop working?

thanks

Shard

Usually wrapping in parenthesis identifies a unrecognized literal movement command.

I would guess that you edited the package list of the session in question and removed the two default ones for Directions.

Thanks for the response.

If i edited the package list, I have no idea how i did it. Are you able to help point me in the right direction of re-adding the default ones for directions?

thanks,

Sure thing, from the session selection screen:
Edit the session in question.
Switch over to the packages tab.
The two packages in question are: English Directions and English Keypad.

If they are not in the list, click the + button to search the file directory for them.
The default location for them is: Users/you/Documents/My Games/CMUD/Packages/

If they are still missing or otherwise compromised, you may have to reinstall.
In which case you will want to export your settings to XML (from the file menu of the settings editor).
