Zugg is on vacation until January 5th

It's time for our yearly holiday vacation. Zugg Software will be closed until January 5th, so we will mostly not be answering email or forum posts until then.

I wish everybody a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

zugg, you got me thinking... i havent bought a cmud product for a long time. and your new years letter made me think that perhaps i should...

now we get 2 years of upgrades..... well i bought my cmud in 2006..... and all updates still work fully on mine. will buy another copy in the next day or so..

just thought you'd like to know that your missing out on sales if people can upgrade forever...

Two years of upgrades plus minor releases. So you wouldn't be able to upgrade to version 3, but you can get 2.9999 if it ever comes out.

GammaRay is correct. The last major version was 2.x and when that came out, nobody had owned CMUD for more than 2 years, so nobody got charged. When the 3.x Public Version is released, that will count as a new Major Version and the upgrade policy will apply: anyone who bought CMUD more than 2 years ago will need to pay the upgrade cost ($14.95) to get the 3.x Public Version.

Also, just in case someone is wondering, all of the 3.x Beta versions have expiration dates, so you can't just keep using the current beta version. Anybody can continue to use the 2.37 Public Version as long as they want.

Is the CmudPro version a different upgrade cost than the regular version?

Yes, it's different. At worst, you'll be paying full price for a license for CMud pro; at best, you pay for a "double" upgrade--the %x of standard full price to change version numbers, plus %y of pro full price to upgrade from standard to pro.

Full price, upgrade price pro regular it's all the same, really cheap. I complained about the $15 a month for WOW, then I realized a movie is 2-3 hours long for $8-10. So... if you mud for 9 hours every 2 years cmud is better deal than a movie :).

Upgrade price is always half of the current full price. So upgrade for CMUD will be $14.99, upgrade for CMUDPro will be $19.95. Upgrade from CMUD to CMUDPro is always $9.95.

im sure ill be hated for saying this... but dont you think your prices are too cheap??

I know times are hard and all that. But I pay roughly $24 dollar per month to play my favorite mud. avalon. And its well worth it.

Cmud costs $29.95 for 2 years

mud = $718.80 dollars for 2 years.
cmud = 29.95

Now im not saying that you should charge 700 dolars for cmud. but im sure a 5 dollar price increase wouldnt even be noticed.
