[3.10a] #MAKEWINDOW is really the only way?
 
Is there another way to remove the scrolling feature from a window other than by redefining it with #MAKEWINDOW?

For now yes... There's a bug with windows being created with #makewindow not persisting properly, which may be what you're running up against. If memory serves correctly you can also do an MXP frame but I think they both call the same routines.
