Trouble after installing CMUDpro after CMUD has expired in vista

Hello,

I was running CMUD as a trial which recently expired. Decided to buy cmud pro and can't seem to get it to install properly on my vista machine. If i uninstall pro and install cmud i still get the expired message but can't use my pro serial number. In pro it stops mid-install during /REGISTER and a window pops up that displays "CMUDPro has stopped working"

Is there any way for me to clean my registry so that I can get a clean copy of CMUD Pro?

Thanks so much,
-James

Try disabling DEP.

Right-click My Computer, go to Properties, then 'Advanced System Settings'
Then on the Advanced tab, click Settings under the Performance header.
Click the 'Data Execution Prevention' tab and then click 'Add', and it'll ask you to find a file to add - find the CMUDPro exe file and select it.

That should hopefully fix it. I had the same problem a few days ago

I wonder why there are DEP issues with CMUDPro but not CMUD... Or, at least, when I installed CMUD on Vista Business 32-bit SP1, I didn't need to change any DEP settings.

This worked perfectly. Thank you very much, Guinn! My apologies for not seeing and recognizing the other thread.

I should also remind people that there is a Troubleshooting topic in the help file (and online help) that describes this DEP issue and other possible things to try when having trouble with CMUD, especially when using Vista.

Go to the Support menu at the top of the page and select "CMUD Support". Then you'll see the Troubleshooting topic listed.

So you don't necessarily need to dig through the forums to find this stuff.
